What Australian Made Means to Us

Australian Made Week is a celebration of the people, businesses and communities keeping local manufacturing alive.

It’s a reminder to back Australian makers, support local jobs, and look for the green and gold kangaroo when choosing products built here at home.

At Buckaroo, Australian made means more than where something is built. It’s the people behind it, the skills learnt over years on the workshop floor, and the pride that goes into making gear properly.

From our workshop in NSW, every belt, bag and frog passes through the hands of skilled craftspeople who understand what quality looks like because they build it every day.

And like most workshops, it’s the people that make the place. The conversations across the benches, the shared skills, the knock-off laughs, and the pride of seeing something leave the workshop built properly. Some of our team have been here for decades, others started with no experience at all and learnt the trade from the ground up.

Billy, our Frontline Manager, started at Buckaroo as a trainee eight years ago.

“I started with nothing and learnt heaps about sewing, manufacturing and working with leather tools. You end up becoming a craftsperson yourself.”

That journey, learning skills, working with your hands and passing knowledge on, is part of what keeps Australian manufacturing alive.

For Monique, who works across dispatch and production, Australian made is about honesty.

“It’s made here, it’s made for our harsh conditions at times. People want quality, but they also want connection as well, and I think Australian made gives both of that.”

In 2026, manufacturing locally isn’t always the easy option. But for us, it matters. Knowing where our materials come from, who made the product, and the people standing behind it is what Buckaroo has been built on since 1971.

This Australian Made Week, we’re celebrating the makers, stitchers, cutters, planners and craftspeople behind the scenes who help keep Australian manufacturing moving forward.

Built here. Built properly. Built to last.
